about

One September day I was walking past the Museum of Natural History in Manhattan, watching the leaves turn and tumble around me. As I passed this structure that houses numerous fossils and cross-sections of striated rock proving the passing of thousands of years of history I realized, conversely, that those museum artifacts confirm the endurance of the world around us, as well as human curiosity, and survival – in sharp contrast to the conclusion of the life cycle going on outside the museum. FEAR OF FALLING LEAVES lands in a Latin vibe with rhythm section Daniel Sadownick (percussion) and Tim Lefebvre (acoustic bass), along with Daniel Mintseris' jaunty melodica, laying the groundwork for Steve Elliot's joyously edgy guitar solo.

lyrics

O the leaves will be turning soon
So the same for the waning moon
But things that fade can change their tune
If you leave them on their own

I can see the chill across your face
Your confusion at the planet’s ways
But the trees know there is no disgrace
To become disrobed

Will you stay to see the green again
Seasons change and seasons end
Why hide from clouds or run from rain
Rain is what the dry earth needs
Green is only one of many hues
Gold and crimson still can thrill and soothe
If you stay to see you’ll surely lose
Your fear of falling leaves

If the trees can be this brave
For us it could be the same
To be naked in the cold and rain
Could liberate us all

So let go every branch and stem
Close your eyes try to be like them
Finding joy and color once again
In your own free fall

Green is only one of many hues
Gold and crimson still can thrill and soothe
If you stay I promise you will lose
Your fear of falling leaves
Stay with me to see the green again
Feel the grass beneath bare feet again
We will laugh when we remember when
We were afraid of falling leaves
we were afraid of falling leaves
don't be afraid of
falling leaves

This new 5-song EP is an expression of her tenacious faith in love as a solution, and -- the reason for the new moniker Babilonia -- my calling home of all the voices I have summoned in support of other artists over the past decade-plus. ... more
