Wishing Well 03:18
she waits in the dark looking like a violin he plays her heart til his hands against her skin make her sing and more's the pity she knows all too well someday she's gonna hit bottom in her wishing well she thirsts for him like a flower rooted in the sand he rains for her filling up her outstretched hands with contraband and more's the pity she knows all too well someday she's gonna hit bottom in her wishing well she prays for strength in the morning as he drives away she waves his hand as if to cast a spell his way to make him stay and more's the pity she knows all too well someday she's gonna hit bottom in her wishing well

Vegas 03:20
Baby have you been to Vegas I keep hearing that it's grand Tell me what you think it looks like And I'll draw us up a map I will give you everything, babe That I have left in the bank Let's go, let’s go to Vegas Get our tires stuck in the sand Driving at a mile a minute I will crash and you will burn Where the winding asphalt banks And the warning signs are stern We make a blind-eye beeline To our next hairpin turn Gotta get ourselves to Vegas Burn, baby, burn We can stand in front of Elvis And dress up all in white We can make a drunken promise And swagger at the sight Of spun roulettes and misplaced bets Made in the middle of the night When we’re starry-eyed in Vegas Everything will be all right When the lights go out in Vegas And the desert sands grow cold We will rub our eyes and wonder Where is all the gold When the charm won’t last forever We’ll convince ourselves it can It’ll leak like gas Out the back Of our stolen black sedan

This kills me more than i imagined long distance you homebound me i'm not saying you feel different but you're rolling down the road, and i have to stay so please call me from the road call me from the road call me from the road tell me that you'll be home soon I watched you heading out this morning rolling your lonely up into your sleeves with the kiss you swore you're saving only for me and the promise in your voice makes me believe when you call me from the road call me from the road call me from the road to tell me you'll be home soon On a train to Philadelphia Or a flight to Ohio I can trace your travels anywhere you go And I may only tell you what you might already know i'll be here dreaming you on back until the day you come on back home.. call me from the road call me from the road tell me that you'll be home tell me that you'll be home tell me that you'll be home soon.

O the leaves will be turning soon So the same for the waning moon But things that fade can change their tune If you leave them on their own I can see the chill across your face Your confusion at the planet’s ways But the trees know there is no disgrace To become disrobed Will you stay to see the green again Seasons change and seasons end Why hide from clouds or run from rain Rain is what the dry earth needs Green is only one of many hues Gold and crimson still can thrill and soothe If you stay to see you’ll surely lose Your fear of falling leaves If the trees can be this brave For us it could be the same To be naked in the cold and rain Could liberate us all So let go every branch and stem Close your eyes try to be like them Finding joy and color once again In your own free fall Green is only one of many hues Gold and crimson still can thrill and soothe If you stay I promise you will lose Your fear of falling leaves Stay with me to see the green again Feel the grass beneath bare feet again We will laugh when we remember when We were afraid of falling leaves we were afraid of falling leaves don't be afraid of falling leaves

Snow 02:38
my window faces the north and the east the morning sun wakes me he won't give me peace there's room here beside me but i guess you know if it weren't for the sun we'd be watching the snow through the bare branches in skies bleached and bland the airliners float as they ready to land i know that people come and they go but i thought by now we'd be watching the snow cold grey days stole summer away by degrees still i thought that we'd find a way to fight off the freeze caught the storm on our tongues tried to melt in inside but none of our wishes could make winter die it came with the bite but with none of the show so i stand here alone at my open window missing your warmth and watching for snow

Dandelion 03:35
When I feel my fire dying I remember Dandelion Though she’s lost All her bloom and her seed Riding on the wind She has everything She needs Once the belle of the bouquet When the summer fades away She opens wide To embrace the next friendly breeze Riding on the wind She has everything She needs Ooo... Through the thorns and tangled vines Up comes Dandelion Reaching for the sun Showing everyone her means And her sunny smile That no man can defeat Ooo... Dandelion I need to know How you make your blossom grow How you stay So beautiful and true Oh Dandelion I will follow you I will follow you I will follow you

Papa would go sailin’, sailin Far across the eastern sea Every where he sailed he’d find them All the gifts he brought to me All the gifts he brought to me Fragile dolls in fancy costume Pretty jewels in pear-shaped jars They were presents for a young woman Not a little baby like me Not a little baby like me oooo... Maybe he could see the future Maybe he had plans for me Maybe he saw a different daughter Looking back across the sea Looking back across the sea I should have kept them precious I should have stored them well My poor old papa’s presents If I had I’d have them still If I had I’d have them still ooo... Now he no longer wanders Or sails on any sea Or remembers son or daughter Only travels in his dreams Only travels in his dreams I should have kept them precious I should have known damn well My poor old papa’s presents If I had I’d have them still If I had I’d have them still If I had I’d have them still

P.T. Barnum 02:20
Dizzy and faded from whiskey and wine This carnival spins inside of my mind On a carousel of ne'er do well You and me and P.T. Barnum Wanting you nearer then wishing you'd go Accepting deception as part of the show On a tilt-a-whirl of boy and girl You and me and P.T. Barnum Every minute of every day A sucker's born, that's what they say But it’s freak fascination, can't look away Can't pull away Can't look away From sequins and sugar and canvas on sticks The net breaks our fall and we all get our kicks In this two-bit show of touch and go You and me and P.T. Barnum You and me and P.T. Barnum

A sailor sleeps Drunk on love and fantasy When he wakes Will he believe How his dreaming set me free A stolen shirt And trousers too A half filled purse and I’m on the run To set upon The ocean blue To chase the ever rising sun Oh... He came to me All smiles and sunburned skin With tales of everywhere he’d been And pocketfuls of gold To buy my body and my soul The bargain turned When we lay down Ran his yearning into ground Then he slept And so he could not see The key to freedom I had found Oh... To lands I’ve yet to roam Winds, oh carry me far from home To salt and shell and calloused skin This is where my world begins Oh... Ashore A sailor sleeps Drunk on love and fantasy When he wakes Will he believe How his dreaming set me free

My Love 03:29
My love Is stronger than the sea I marvel at the gifts he brings To me My love With eyes of ocean blue He brings me fear and ecstasy and truth But oh I feel our ebb and flow Like sand he pulls me from my distant shore My love Survives despite the storm I surface in his waves I am reborn Our sorrows Crushed by feet and hands Becomes the seashell beach On which we stand My love Survives despite the storm I surface in his waves I am reborn My love Is stronger than the sea I marvel at the gifts he brings To me My love Is stronger than the sea

"Papa would go sailin’, sailin,

Celia Chavez California

Babilonia is the reclaimed creative persona of singer Celia Chavez. This new 5-song EP is an expression of her tenacious faith in love as a solution, and -- the reason for the new moniker Babilonia -- my calling home of all the voices I have summoned in support of other artists over the past decade-plus. ... more
