RICHARD CURTIS words and music by Celia Chavez (c) 2015 Pequeña Maquina Music (ASCAP) Oh, sweet beginnings Happy endings and a soundtrack symphony Richard Curtis, Richard Curtis what have you done to me Here comes our hero Fascinated by the leading lady Richard Curtis, is this actually how love's supposed to be Because somehow i've been getting my lines all wrong Making entrances through all the wrong doors I get your sense of romance And the pacing's strong But i don't know if i believe you anymore One magic first kiss Under falling snow on Christmas Day But Mr. Curtis, won't you tell me Why didn't he stay <instrumental solo> Oh the prince is always charming when the lights go down But halfway through we stumble through our parts There's always something missing in the dialogue Even when we play it straight from the heart Even when we play it straight from the heart I know it's not hopeless And I know you're telling me to have faith It's a movie It's a story And stories can change And so, Mr. Curtis I'll give you one more chance to be redeemed Mr. Curtis, Richard Curtis go on make me believe Give you one more chance now go on make me believe

December Sun 03:53
DECEMBER SUN lyric by Celia Chavez / music by Celia and Jeff Babko (c)2015 Pequeña Maquina Music (ASCAP) I was not waiting for a warm December I was bracing for the chill Dreaming sugarplums and snowstorms and fallen icicles But the planet planned it different Gave the season to the stars Those conspiring constellations spun me right into your arms Where has winter gone You brought me sun on christmas eve Miracles do come like December sun Such a sweet gift to receive Bring on the wind Bring on the snow Bring on the chill Baby I know It’s only warm Decembers for me now Restless souls all seeking shelter And promises of peace Oh my old idea of winter Was a cold and lonely freeze You could have love be your savior If you let your story twist 'Cause I know i can't remember a December quite like this Where has winter gone You brought me sun on christmas eve Miracles do come Like December sun Such a sweet gift to receive Bring on the wind Bring on the snow Bring on the chill Baby I know It’s only warm Decembers for me now

about

Two songs loosely inspired by the films "Love Actually" and "Bridget Jones' Diary" -- films that challenge the story-watcher to maintain or even renew their hope that love is all around us; that love finds its own winding path to us if we allow it to reveal itself.

In the spirit of the holidays, and as December is my birthday month, I offer these two songs to you as my gift of sweetness and hope in these challenging times.

Most of us have been affected by events these recent months that seem to challenge faith in human kindness and decency. My birthday and holiday wish is for you to pledge to give some kind of gift of hope to at least one other soul in need this holiday season -- whether it's someone as distant as a refugee of war, or someone in your community who is alone and in need of comfort or companionship. I'll leave the nature of that gift up to you -- let your kindness guide you.

Please feel free to share the sentiment if you are so moved.

Holiday blessings to you and your dear ones!

Love, Celia

Celia Chavez California

Babilonia is the reclaimed creative persona of singer Celia Chavez. This new 5-song EP is an expression of her tenacious faith in love as a solution, and -- the reason for the new moniker Babilonia -- my calling home of all the voices I have summoned in support of other artists over the past decade-plus. ... more
